Safeguarding

All children have the right to be protected from harm.  This right is enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child.  The United Kingdom has accepted this right and has developed legislation that allows professionals to intervene if they are concerned about the kind of care a child is receiving.

Old Bexley CE Primary School staff work with this legislation and honour our duty of care to every child by protecting all children from harm.

Old Bexley is part of Operation Encompass, a safeguarding scheme run by the Metropolitan Police.

Registered Sex Offenders: A person who attends Old Bexley CE Primary School premises who is required to register with police under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 must notify the school's Designated Teacher for safeguarding.  They will also be required to participate in a risk assessment and a subsequent written agreement.

Risk Assessment: This is a confidential document which will be shared with MAPPA and the designated teachers of the school only.  This assessment is completed with two members of the safeguarding team.  Risk Assessments are reviewed annually, unless further information is disclosed, to establish any change of details such as address,  further offences and/or removal from the sex offenders' register.

Written Agreement: This will be drawn up following the completed risk assessment.
